Contaminated Land & Hazardous Waste
The NES has identified five specified activities where there is a potential for contaminated soils to have an adverse risk to human health. These are:
- Removing or replacing all, or part of, a fuel storage system
- Sampling the soil
- Disturbing the soil
- Subdividing the land
- Changing the land use
If your land has been identified as ‘HAIL’ land by the Council, we’re here to help. GHC Consulting Ltd is able to investigate and undertake any contaminated land issues that you may have on your property.
Our services include:
- Undertaking Preliminary Site Investigations (PSI) (desktop studies)
- Completing Detailed Site Investigations (DSI) with associated Remedial Action Plans (RAP)
- Completing remedial works and associated Site Validation Reports (SVR)
- Assessment of Environmental Effects reports (AEE)
- Landfill Validation Reports (LVR)
- Soil and water testing via laboratory analysis
- XRF analysis on soils
- Soil remediation and disposal
GHC Consulting Ltd are licensed and have access to an X-ray fluorescence machine (XRF) which enables a quick (less than 30 seconds) assessment of the concentrations of heavy metals within the soils. An XRF assessment can offer a rapid assessment of soils and is an essential tool for investigating and remediating sites. The XRF can be used during a DSI (when identifying contamination prior to laboratory analysis being undertaken) or during remedial works (to confirm the absence of contamination following remedial/excavation works) and also has the ability to identify lead paint on the inside or outside of a building. GHC Consulting Ltd also offers a stand-alone soil testing service where a consultant will attend a property and collect soil samples. The samples will be tested either through the use of the XRF or laboratory analysis and the results will be provided within a summary environmental report.
