Planning and Policy
Policy
Mike Goldsmith is a strategic planning expert and he writes in a clear and informative way, and has an excellent understanding of how policy and strategic planning documents should be framed.
GHC has developed policies and bylaws relating to freedom camping, vehicles on beaches, and community housing. We help local councils develop strategic plans for the provision of their key community facilities, and we have significant experience in the development of Reserve Management Plans.
Community Plan Development
To promote living and working in the Clutha District, GHC have been working with the local council since 2017 to develop Community Plans for towns across South Otago. To date, these have included:
- Balclutha and Milton (2017)
- Waihola (2018)
- The Catlins (2019)
- Lawrence – Tuapeka (2019/2020)
- Kaitangata (2021)
- West Otago (2022)
- Clutha Valley (2023)
- Clinton (2023)
- Taieri Mouth (2024)
Resilience & Disaster Planning
Our work has extended internationally to Indonesia where Mike Goldsmith has been actively engaged in community disaster planning and disaster recovery associated with the Strengthened Indonesian Resilience – Reducing Risk from Disasters. We understand lifelines and building resilience, so that a community can function and get back to normal as soon as possible following a catastrophic event.
